When our clients bought this house, they hired us to tear out the existing gardens that consisted primarily of common shrubs and ‘foundation plantings’ (including lots of overgrown Rhododendrons, Yews, Azaleas and Spireas). Their goal was to replace these plantings with low maintenance gardens that consisted mostly of plants that were native to the northeast. We also replaced a wooden deck out back with a new bluestone patio. The house and patio are now enclosed by thriving gardens full of native shrubs, perennials and grasses. The gardens buzz with life and mirror the beauty of the surrounding meadow and nearby pond.
